A bit about We Create Digital
Based in Coggeshall, we are a small but busy web design agency that started off focusing solely on websites. Since our foundation in 2011, we have grown into a full-service digital agency providing SEO, web development, web design, technical support and more.
The We Create team
We’re quite a tight-knit team, so being a strong communicator is important as we hold a weekly meeting every Monday and speak throughout the day on Slack and email. As we work together on projects, we regularly jump on meetings with each other to brainstorm ideas and find solutions. Being a problem-solver with a can-do attitude will really go a long way!
Oh, and if you’ve taken a look at our team, you’ll know all about Cookie, our Chief Barketing Officer. Cookie is an integral part of our team, so it’s important you keep him well-motivated with head scratches and occasionally throwing a ball for him to fetch.
Personal attributes
We’re a friendly bunch here at We Create, with every member playing an important role in assisting the team. We are quite flexible with the way we work; everyone is always happy to help out and provide assistance to one another when asked. Being versatile is important as you will often have to juggle tasks and quickly prioritise your workloads at short notice.
Because you will be in direct contact with clients, a high level of attention to detail is essential. This comes hand in hand with strong written and verbal communication skills. You will need to explain your development work to clients who might not have a strong understanding of technical terms. As we know, this is easier said than done!
The web developer role
We’re looking for a web developer to join our team and help us to continue to provide an outstanding service to our clients. Feel free to take a look at our previous work to get an idea of the kind of projects you will be working on. As well as working for our clients, we also help our local community to give something back.
As this role will require you to confidently step into our ongoing projects, it is unfortunately not suitable for graduates or individuals without the required experience.
The salary range is £35-45k and is dependent on experience. We also offer a discretionary bonus each year and the salary would be reviewed annually.
The essential skills are:
- 3 years of WordPress development
- Working with PHP frameworks
- MySQL and have a good understanding of Relational Database Systems
- Git source control
- Frontend frameworks such as Bootstrap or Tailwind
- JavaScript and jQuery
- 4 years experience in a relevant position
Having experience in any of the following three items is desirable:
- Laravel
- Drupal
- Msgento
- SEO
- Understanding of good UX/UI
- Understanding of accessibility requirements
- Project management
The benefits of joining We Create Digital
While we are hard-working, we do like to enjoy a light-hearted and friendly environment. When in the office, you can dress casually, drink as much coffee as you like and enjoy keeping Cookie company (unless he’s working from home!).
We also run monthly social events that changed into virtual meet-ups during the pandemic. Take a look at some of the hilarious pictures we drew in one of our virtual socialising sessions.
Usually, we would rotate through the team, with each of us getting to choose the next month’s social event. Just before the pandemic, we had a blast playing some virtual reality games and cooked up a storm at a baking class.
We all work on company MacBooks, so we hope you’re not too much of a Windows enthusiast! In addition to a paid company parking space, there’s also a finder’s fee. So if you bring in a new client, you’ll receive additional pay for the work completed.
Think you'd be a good fit?
If you meet the essential requirements and you are enthusiastic and hard-working with a personable approach, then this may well be the role for you. If you’d like to find out more about the team or the role, please feel free to get in touch with us today using the contact form.
