Junior Website Designer vacancy.
We’re searching for a Junior Website Designer to join our team to support us on client work as well as internal projects. We need someone who has at least one year of similar experience in a professional role, whether in an agency or in-house role. Qualifications are helpful but not essential – we care more about experience and ability, with evidence of your skills.
The role.
We need a website designer who can hit the ground running, so you must have hands-on experience crafting websites, platforms, or digital tools in a professional setting – this role isn’t suited to someone with only graphic design experience. You’ll work alongside our senior designers, so attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently are essential, as are strong communication skills both within the team and when liaising with clients.
The role can be part-time or full-time – if full-time, you’ll work 40 hours per week. Our core hours are 9 am-6 pm, but with flexibility around start and finish times.
Role overview:
- Translate wireframes and client briefs into polished website designs
- Create and iterate Figma mockups based on feedback
- Collaborate with developers to deliver build-ready designs
- Assist in design reviews and maintain quality standards
- Update and expand our design system and component library
Must have:
- Proven experience in website design (agency or in-house)
- Proficiency with Figma (layouts, components, prototyping)
- Understanding of responsive design principles
- Strong visual design sense and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Desirable:
- Knowledge of accessibility guidelines (WCAG)
- Background in UX research or usability testing
- Familiarity with component-driven design systems
- We can provide accessibility and UX training if needed.
Salary and benefits
- Hours: 40 hours (if full-time)
- Salary: circa £25-35k a year depending on the experience and candidate
- Location: Coggeshall, Essex – at least 2 days a week
- Training support: an annual personal training budget
- Holiday: 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
- Perks: paid parking, socials, referral commission, an extra day off for your birthday, flexible working and paid overtime (we don’t expect to get any extra time for free!), staff loyalty bonus and monthly employee initiative
- Pension: through NEST
